The Beginning of the Transplant Journey, Warmly Accompanied by Yanhua | Delivering Pre-operative Care to Children Awaiting Liver Transplant Surgery
Recently, staff and volunteers from the Shanghai Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation visited the Liver Transplant Center at Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University to spend time with young patients who are about to undergo liver transplant surgery. They brought carefully prepared small blankets and pillows for the children, offering thoughtful care to accompany them through this important transition in their lives.

Through conversations with the children’s families and medical staff, the Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation gained a deeper understanding of the children’s recent health conditions and upcoming treatment plans. Volunteers also actively participated, communicating with family members, inquiring about the children’s well-being, and attentively listening to the difficulties and needs they face in daily life, with the hope of providing more practical support to these families.
For both the children and their families, the waiting period before surgery is filled with uncertainty and anxiety. The Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation hopes that through face-to-face visits, care can be transformed into tangible warmth, allowing every child and family about to embark on the transplant journey to feel the companionship and support of society during this critical time.
Pre- and post-operative visits have become an integral and regular component of Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation's pediatric liver transplant charity program. We continue to pay close attention to each child’s needs and feelings before and after surgery—from material support to emotional companionship, from care during recovery to long-term guardianship of their growth—hoping to ensure that this challenging “transplant journey” is no longer walked alone by the children and their families.
We wish all the children smooth and successful surgeries and a safe recovery. May every parent’s perseverance and dedication be met with kindness and gentleness from the world.
